Red Dead Redemption 2 (multiplatform; TBD 2018)
The King of new releases for 2018 is Red Dead Redemption 2. A Western-themed action-adventure video game developed and
published by Rockstar Games. It is scheduled to be released for PlayStation 4
and Xbox One on October 26, 2018. The game is a prequel to the 2010 title Red
Dead Redemption and will be the third entry in the Red Dead series. It follows
the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Dutch van der Linde gang.
With a release date of October 26, 2018 this is definitely
one of the top most anticipated games of 2018.
God of War (PS4; TBD 2018)
God of War (commonly
referred to as God of War 4) is an upcoming third-person action-adventure video
game in development by Santa Monica Studio and to be published by Sony
Interactive Entertainment (SIE). It is scheduled to be released on April 20,
2018 for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) console. It will be the eighth installment in
the God of War series, the eighth chronologically, and the sequel to 2010's God
of War III. The story is a new direction for the series, as it will be loosely
based on Norse mythology—all previous games were based on Greek mythology.
Series protagonist Kratos returns as the main character, and he now has a son
named Atreus. Kratos acts as a mentor and protector to his son, and has to
master the rage that has driven him for many years.
As a avid gamer and big time God of War fan I am really
excited to see how this story goes.
Spider-Man (PS4; TBD 2018)
Spider-Man is an upcoming action-adventure video game based
on the Marvel Comics superhero Spider-Man. It is being developed by Insomniac
Games and to be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 4.
It will be the first licensed game developed by Insomniac. The game will tell a
new story about Spider-Man that is not tied to a film, comic book or video
game. It will cover both the Peter Parker and Spider-Man aspects of the
character and will feature an older and more experienced Spider-Man. Spider-Man
is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2018.
Spiderman had always been one of my favorite Marvel
Characters, and this game is super anticipated for hardcore Marvel fans. With
the new movie and a younger cast this Spider-Man has a younger fan base and has
engaged more viewers than ever.
Sea of Thieves (Xbox One, PC; March 20)
Sea of Thieves is a pirate-themed
action-adventurecooperative multiplayer game played from a first-person
perspective. The game features cross-platform play between Windows-based
personal computers and Xbox One video game consoles. A group of players travel
and explore an open world via a pirate ship and assume different roles such as
steering, hoisting sails, navigation, firing cannons and other tasks. Players
will embark on quests, collect loot and engage in combat with other players.
Sea of Thieves is a shared game world, which means groups of players will
encounter each other regularly throughout their adventures. The game has a
cartoonish art style and an exaggerated physics engine that allow players to
perform stunts, like being shot out of ship cannons.
As a lover of the developer Rare older games such as
Golden-Eye 64 I am really excited to witness their most ambitious game ever.
Besides who doesn't love pirates and the open world's games?
Far Cry 5 (multiplatform; March 27)
Far Cry 5 is an upcoming action-adventure first-person
shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft for
Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is the eleventh installment
and the fifth main title in the Far Cry series. It is scheduled to be released
on March 27, 2018.
Alot of my friends love Far Cry and have played it from the
beginning. They are so excited about the new games release and can not wait.
Open world games have a huge market and with the release of the Xbox One X and
PS4 Pro game developers have a lot of new room to grow and take advantage of
the new power.
